Incredibly knowledgeable guide
I forgot the name of our tour guide but I want to give him a big shoutout. He was very interesting and knowledgeable, and was happy to answer our often challenging questions on Serbian politics.
We met at Republic Square and visited several of Belgrade’s most culturally significant monuments and buildings. These included Hotel Moskva, St Mark’s Orthodox Church, the national parliament building and the Serbian national TV headquarters, which was shelled by NATO forces in 1999.
Our tour guide seemed to have an endless fountain of facts about each of these monuments. He was also very happy to talk about Serbian history ranging from early 1900s to the present day.
The tour was very long (2.5 hours) and we feel it could be shortened to 1.5-2hrs, as it is difficult to keep people’s attention for longer than this timeframe. However, given that we asked so many questions about Serbian political life which our guide was happy to answer in detail, it would be unfair to give the tour any less than 5 stars.
A great introduction to Belgrade and its history - fully recommend.
